Philippians 4:8 & a Giveaway! Closed
A couple of weeks ago I decided that I was going to start memorizing bible verses. I have always and am constantly reading the bible and know some verses for the most part here and there but haven’t ever memorized them. But lately I have been craving the Word of God like I have never done before. And by that I mean I not only want to read it but I want to saturate my heart and mind with it.
In January I told you about how I have dealt with panic attacks and anxiety. My favorite bible verse and the first one I have memorized comes from Philippians 4:6-8. I found these verses right after I started dealing with anxiety and they have changed my life. Sometimes I literally cling to them because I don’t know what else to do.
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your request to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and mind in Christ Jesus.
Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable – if anything is excellent or praiseworthy – think about such things.
But nature I am a worrier. I come from a family full of them. They often keep me up at night and distract me during the day. But I do my best to guard my mind from the thoughts that I shouldn’t be thinking. When worry or anxiety crosses my mind I test them against the verse above. “Are they true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent, or praiseworthy?” And when they aren’t I do my best to just give them over to God. Not always easy but something that I am always striving for.

My favorite bible verse is Romans 12:2 “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.” I was having a very hard time accepting where I was in my life. I was starting to feel convicted in a way I had never been before but lets face it THIS WORLD makes it REALLY tough sometimes!!! Dealing with what would certain family members thing,,,would they judge me for being a “holy roller” (i hate that term SO much), etc. I just repeat that over and over and over and it gives me SO much comfort! Wonderful post. I am really enjoying your blog.

Probably Jeremiah 29:11. I need to be reminded of it often. I also love Philippians 4:13.
Psalm 145:8-9 is one of my favorites. Specifically “slow to anger and rich in love” part. It’s the mantra I repeat to myself during frustrating times.

My favorite verse is Hebrews 13:2. “Don’t forget to show hospitality to strangers, for some who have done this have entertained angels without realizing it.” What an important reminder!
My favorite verse would have to be 1 Cor 13 – just love the whole chapter!
