This weekend I decided to take some time (a couple hours) and clean up my Pinterest boards. I love Pinterest and often spend some time on their site at night while waiting for Ryan to fall asleep.
I separated them in a couple different sections hoping that it would be easier for people who are following.
My first three boards are for my blog. What I’ve written. What I’ve made. And tutorials or crafts that I want to do and post about.
Next came holidays. I love decorating and planning for the next holiday so each one has its own board.
Then it’s each room in our house. We just moved in last February and are still trying to furnish and decorate. I love getting ideas and being able to look at my boards when I am out shopping. This came in really handy when I was going for a Texas theme for the guest room. I also love all the organization ideas. We have a lot of closets in this house and it’s nice to get ideas so they look nice.
After homey boards I have crafts. The crafts are separated – cardboard crafts, letters, jewelry, and random. The random crafts are just crafts that don’t fix onto any other board.
And then just random boards. I tried to organize them (colors for my blog, scrapbooks for blog design, fonts, blogging) as best I could but some just don’t fit with any other board.
Maybe I am being too OCD about this but whatever. I like it better when it’s organized : ) And it really does make things easier when I am searching for a certain craft or pin.
I even made a couple new boards. I am going to start doing the crafts I see on Pinterest and blogging about it. So I made a To Do! board. These are crafts you will be seeing on the blog in the upcoming weeks. I love crafting but often am working on so many at a time it gets overwhelming. So I figured I would take one a week and keep a little bit more of my sanity.
Please go check out my hard work and follow me on Pinterest if you haven’t already. Then leave me a comment letting me know so I can follow you back!
Do you organize your Pinterest boards? If so how do you organize them?
Halloween Mantel!
I know I know. Halloween already?
The hubby is in Denmark right now and won’t be back until October. So I am decorating because when he comes home I want the house look awesome. This is the first “big” holiday in the new house so I might be going a little crazy. I also plan on decorating the front door, the kitchen, and maybe the staircase.
And this mantel took me three weeks and nine trips to Hobby Lobby (paint, vinyl, contact paper) to finish. Before the hubby left he cut some wood for me. I spent the first week planning, painting, and throwing away. I had a different idea but it didn’t work out the way that I thought it would. I am glad about that though because I love the way the mantel looks!
I used my Silhouette, plywood, lots of paint and scrapbooking paper to make this. I made a chalkboard too and plan on changing it every week to say something different. I also look on Pinterest for lots of ideas! That is a site I could spend hours on : ) You can find my Halloween board here…
So let me know what you think. Oh, and I didn’t paint the 31 because those numbers are Ryan’s.
Do you decorate for the holidays? If so I would love to see your projects!
Top Ten Thursday – Travel
Today is Top Ten Travel. There are so many places I would love to go visit…
1.) For as long as I can remember there have always been two places that I have wanted to live. One of these is New York. There are so many things about this city that I love even though I have never been. For one I love that you can walk or take a taxi anywhere you want to go. I am such a city girl so the idea of being surrounded by this huge city just makes me fall in love. I also want to try their pizza, learn their accent, and see time square.

2.) The other place I have always wanted to live is London. I am not sure why but something has always attracted me to London.

8.) Germany. I lived there when I was younger but I don’t remember too much of it. The one thing I do remember is a castle that we would see on the way to school everyday. Awesome. I would love to go back and see it as an adult.

Picking colors for your blog design (and more)
When thinking about my new blog design colors were the most important thing to me. I wanted something colorful without being overwhelming. That is why my background is gray and my sidebar, title, and social icons are more colorful.
One day I sat down and spent about two hours going over color palettes. I know that seems like a long time but I wanted my new design to be perfect. And it was worth my it because I am so happy with the way the new design turned out.
The three sites below are ones that I looked at before the design of my blog. They are awesome. If you have a certain color in mind it will help you figure out what other colors will match best with it. This is the color palette that I picked for the design of my blog. I knew that I wanted green, pink, and yellow. It doesn’t have yellow so we just added that.

And what I love about these sites is that they help with so many more things than blog design. I am about to make a new paint sample board and will be using them to help pick which colors to use. I also am using them to help me decorate my living room. I have a lot of brown and it’s nice to know what colors will match best.
Here are the three sites that I looked at and were so helpful. You might want to give them some of your time before jumping into the design of your blog. You can also check out my Colors board on Pinterest to see what colors stuck out to me.
