Cringe Worthy. Week One
This was the post I was working on yesterday but because of a trip to the ER I couldn’t post it. Everything is fine : ) Ryan just had a really bad fall and I wanted to make sure everything was okay. So anyways. That is why I say Thursday in this post….
On Wednesday I renewed my membership to the YMCA and am over the moon excited about it! I love the atmosphere at the Y and could stay there all day and just hang out. I love the little TV’s they have on each machine. I get there about the time the View comes on and work out while watching it. Makes the time go by much faster. I love that they have a heated indoor swimming pool that I can take Ryan to on the weekends. And I love their Fit system. You log into a computer system and it keeps track of all the calories burned and weight reps you do. Each machine has a place you put your pin in and it syncs with their computer so it doesn’t matter which machine you work on or if you work on multiple ones in one work out. You can also add it manually like if you take a class or work out at your house. It’s awesome.
(You would think I am being paid for this post but I am totally not. I just REALLY REALLY love the Y.)
I gained most of my weight while I was pregnant with Ryan and just never focused on getting it back off. I have been so busy being a mom that I just put myself on the back burner. Lame excuse but it’s true.
I was only one hundred pounds in high school and I miss those days of being able to eat everything in front of me without gaining a pound. I could literally eat more than anyone around me and not think twice about it. Portion control is something I am having to learn on a daily basis.
Since October I have been trying to really focus on my diet. I have been drinking more water, watching my sweets, and cutting my portions in half. And I hate drinking water. I would much rather drink chick fil-a tea or soda but those are diet killers. And sweets. Oh, how I love my sweets. Chocolate, ice cream, M&M’s, cake, cupcakes, cupcakes and ice cream on one plate. Yeah, I have issues with sweets.
I have limited myself to one sweet a day and so far so good. Some days it isn’t easy but I know in the long run it will be so worth it.
And one more thing I hate? Is having pictures taken of me. In all reality I am not unhappy with the way that I look. Maybe it’s because my husband (an awesome man) tells me I am beautiful all the time and I believe him. But for some reason I cringe when I see myself in pictures. I mean seriously I will run from a camera. I know that it’s really over dramatic but if you knew me you wouldn’t be surprised at all.
But I have decided that I am going to take a picture every Thursday and post about it on here until I am at my goal weight. I want to be able to look back and see my progress and how the hard work paid off. I also think by posting about it I will feel more accountable to myself. To stay on track this time and not diet for a week and go back to old habits. I will also be posting other things throughout the week. The good, the bad, and the ugly. (I will also still be posting about crafts and stuff too so don’t worry.)
So here is to the first week. I know I shouldn’t have used the flash in the first picture and thought I had taken another without it but didn’t. I hope you don’t cringe at this picture but so what if you do.
(Oh, and don’t you love my pink shoes?? They are one of my favorite things in the world).
So what are some tips you can give me to keep me motivated and away from the sweets? I will take all the help I can get : )
A month to be Thankful
November is one of my favorite months. The air outside is cool (sometimes), the leaves start to change colors, and of course Thanksgiving. This is the first Thanksgiving we have spent in the new house and I am really excited about that. I love having friends and family over just hanging out and enjoying each others company. And of course the mashed potatoes. I love Thanksgiving mashed potatoes.
This month I am going to make sure that I am more aware of my blessings. God is so awesome and sometimes I forget how blessed I am. In the big and the little things. Our church is sponsoring Haiti as one of our missions and something really sat with me. One of the little girls that my preacher met said that she walked three hours everyday just to go to school, have a meal, and learn about God. An hour and a half walk there and then back home.
Wow I thought. Ryan gets a ride to school every morning and it is only five minutes away. It got me thinking about all the little things that I take for granted and how things that are so little to me go overlooked.
So this month I am going to be listing five things everyday that I am thankful for. It doesn’t matter what they are but just that I do it. I want to be more aware of my blessings and how lucky I am to live where and how I do. I want Ryan to grow up knowing that he is a lucky little boy who is blessed and really loved.
Today I am thankful for so many things.
1.) Being able to vote. Early voting happened today and I voted. And the line wasn’t even that long : )
2.) Having an awesome husband. Seriously. After thirteen years we are still going strong. I love that man so much. He puts up with all my ideas and new plans for projects. He doesn’t complain when the kitchen and dinning room have boards, paint, cardboard, and paint brushed laying all over. And he would do anything in the world my me and my son.
3.) My fireplace. I love sitting in my living room enjoying my fireplace. It makes it so cozy.
4.) My bible study. I love being in a bible study with strong christian role models. I have learned so much from them.
5.) My son’s teacher. This year has been so much easier than last year because we have a teacher that we love. She is patient, understanding, and doesn’t expect kids to behave like little robots.
What are you thankful for today? I would love to hear.
Blogging Break
Hey everyone! I am back from my blogging break. With the hubby being home and school starting I just needed to step away and refresh a little.
So what was I up to while I was gone??
We finished up the summer by going to the water park on last time.
We soaked up some sun.
We welcomed daddy home by making him buy some new Legos. We didn’t have to twist his arm too hard. He loves putting Legos together with Ryan.
We started our first day of First Grade! Ryan is doing great this year and LOVES his new teacher. He has come home with green in conduct (which is great) everyday but one. He came home with yellow (satisfactory) one day for yelling “damn” out while frustrated. I was happy that it was damn and nothing worse!
I added some new things to my ETSY store : ) I have added banners, chalkboards (like the one above), and some prints. I will be adding more and will eventually be doing a giveaway to my store (Canada included). I can do custom banners so if you want one for Christmas or an upcoming birthday please email me : )! (lindsayintx@gmail.com)
And last Saturday Ryan started taking horse back riding lessons : ) He looks like such a big boy on this horse. He had a blast and loved riding. (Erased the trainers face bc I don’t want to use without permission.)
I am so glad to be back to blogging : )! Sometimes it can be overwhelming but I miss it when I am gone. Thanks for putting up with my blogging break. I think we all need it from time to time.
Photo Link Up and a Giveaway
Today I am linking up for phone photo fun Mondays : ) I know. I am several days late but whatever.
I swear that sometimes my phone takes better pictures than my regular digital camera. I don’t know why but a lot of the pictures I have of Ryan that I love come from my cell phone.
Last week we went to an awesome mall in our area that has a merry-go-round. Ryan loved it and didn’t want to get off.
They also just opened up a Lego store in that mall so I let him pick out a few things. It was so funny because his eye got all big when he saw it. I think he thought he died and went to Lego heaven.
We also did our school shopping last week. Man that was crazy expensive. Ryan loves the dog in Old Navy : )
I am working on a Halloween project for the mantel and had the hubby cut some wood before he left. I will be posting that project later. I need to tweak a few things.
And one of the fun things we did last week was go see Diary of a Wimp Kid. Great movie!
I love the idea of linking up my pictures : ) I usually share on Twitter but not so much on here unless it relates to a blog post. But I think I will do it on Saturdays instead of Mondays that way I can share all my pictures from the week!
Oh! You might want to check out On The Front Porch Looking In because she is having an awesome giveaway right now! She is doing an Erin Condren giveaway : ) I am having a similar giveaway on Monday but haven’t bought a planner for myself yet. I would love to win one too! Especially with the start of the new school year…
Diary of a Wimpy Kid – Review
We went and saw this movie yesterday and it was great! The boys are a little older in this movie and I think for Ryan there is more to learn from it. And I love the dog : ) So cute!
I had a couple of people on Twitter say they wanted to go see it by themselves because their kids had already seen it. I highly suggest doing that! There was a family in the theater with us and the dad laughed louder than the kids : )
